Job Purpose

Bonyo Law (Tech Attorneys) is a specialist Technology Law firm advising clients across Africa and globally on legal and regulatory issues arising from the digital economy, including artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and technology contracting.

We are seeking a motivated and intellectually curious Associate (2–4 years PQE) to support the firm's legal advisory and compliance practice and deliver high-quality legal services to technology companies, international organisations, regulators, and digital businesses. This role is ideal for a lawyer interested in building a long-term career in technology law, digital regulation, and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including technology agreements, privacy policies, terms of service, compliance frameworks, and advisory opinions.
  2. Conducting legal research on emerging technology law issues, including AI governance, data protection, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and cross-border digital regulation.
  3. Supporting clients in regulatory compliance, including data protection impact assessments and governance frameworks.
  4. Preparing legal opinions, compliance reports, and client memoranda.
  5. Assisting in advisory projects involving startups, multinational companies, and public institutions.
  6. Supporting the delivery of corporate training, executive briefings, and webinars.
  7. Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in technology law and preparing updates for clients and publications.
  8. Participating in client meetings and preparing briefing materials.
  9. Supporting development of templates, toolkits, and internal knowledge resources.
  10. Contributing to business development initiatives, including articles, presentations, and research publications.

Experience and Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid 2026 Practicing Certificate

Professional Experience

  • 2–4 years post-admission experience
  • Experience in commercial law, regulatory law, ICT law, or data protection is an advantage
  • Experience in litigation is a bonus

Technical Competencies

  • Strong legal research and drafting skills
  • Interest in technology, innovation, or digital regulation
  • Ability to understand complex regulatory frameworks
